Iron and clay peas are a favorite variety of cowpea commonly planted by wildlife managers. These peas are known for their fast growth and high protein content. Iron and clay peas are considered an ice cream plant for deer. Upon maturity, they are irresistable to whitetails. The mature seeds also serve as a great feed for turkeys, dove, waterfowl, quail and pheasant.
